SpaceX launches X-37B on eighth mission: USSF-36 lifts off with quantum navigation demo

SpaceX launched the U.S. Space Force’s X-37B spaceplane on its eighth mission, USSF-36, from Kennedy Space Center at 11:50 p.m. ET on Aug. 21, 2025. The Falcon 9 first stage returned to Landing Zone 2 after its sixth flight. The mission will test laser crosslink communications and a high-performance quantum inertial sensor. The flight’s duration and many details remain classified.
